I have an international shipment of imitation jewellery from China of 8800INR (136$) for which I was required to pay customs duty. Now what they did is they have created a bill of entry which shows that the custom's department have assessed the value of goods as 15000INR (260$) and have charged the duty accordingly as 3500INR even though i did not undervalue the goods even by a cent. Also the base duty charged by them is 15% when it is clearly mentioned as 6% in the 2016-17 updated customs duty list.
When asked that why is there no stamp of any customs officer or the government of India they say that no such stamp is done on the bill of entry. They did not even bring into my notice that the Customs have assessed so much value for my shipment. Now when i ask them to provide me any legal or Customs document they say that they do not have any such document.
I would humbly request you to please help me with this case as they say that they will destroy the goods if i do not pay the duty.
